Eddie had no motive. The reason as to why he had no motive is because his prints were found on the weapon after the so-called killing by Kelly, so they can't prove that Eddie had the knife at the time that Marilyn put Eddie at the scene, meaning, the dock where the boat was, so with them not being able to prove that he had the knife at the time of Kelly stabbing Evan, does it show premeditation, much less it also doesn't prove that Eddie had a fight with Evan, now does it, they should thought of that before writing the screenplay for this episode, don't you think?

Interestingly, actor Hunt Block makes his second appearance in Murder, She Wrote: Murder, Plain and Simple (1991) as a different character, too.

This is the first of three appearances for Hunt Block. He appears in Murder, She Wrote: Seal of the Confessional (1989), as Father Donald Barnes, Murder, She Wrote: Murder, Plain and Simple (1991), as Reuben Stoltz, and Murder, She Wrote: Programmed for Murder (1992), as Dr Jonas Beckwith.

Final acting credit of Robert Horton.
