Lt. Jack Boyle is a senior investigating officer in the NYPD. He was responsible for investigating the deaths of pawnshop owners and brothers Michael and Harry Freelander in the premiere of season eight, "Bite the Big Apple". However, it was revealed that Lt. Boyle was involved in a diamond smuggling business with the Freelander brothers, he murdered both brothers so that he could have the diamonds to himself and that his corruption would remain hidden. When Jessica understands it, she lays a trap for him with Sgt. Nick Acosta's help. He is eventually arrested just before he manages to kill Jessica.

- This is Eugene Roche's last guest appearance on the show. He previously played Billy Simms in season three, Lt. Jarvis in season four and Grady Fletcher's father-in-law, Franklin Mayberry, in season five.
