Irene Macinoy (Carrie Snodgress) was an editor for the Cabot Cove Gazette, she is also the psychotic mother of Chad Macinoy, a failed student. Aware of her son's romantic interest towards Candice Bennett, Irene murdered Deputy Ethan Loomis in order to fulfill this fantasy. Irene appeared in the episode "Love And Hate In Cabot Cove" (S10E08).
